I remember being a kid and always seeing my mom pop castor oil capsules; I never asked what it was rather I assumed it was just one of those things that I would do when I got older, such as: wear pantyhose and eat olives. Well fast forward 30 years and here I am eating olives and entering my castor oil phase (don't think pantyhose will ever be a thing for me).

What is castor oil? Well it is an oil made from pressed castor seeds, it is full of healthy omega fatty acids and linoleic acid (anti inflammatory and helps to retain moisture when applied to the skin). You can grow a castor seed plant yourself but it produces a poison that is super toxic to humans and animals - so I think I am going to leave that to the experts!
*note castor oil itself is non toxic.
Who uses it and for what? turns out lots of folks (not just my mom) take it in capsule form. In traditional medicine it was used as a laxative and to induce labour *warning - if you are pregnant consult your doctor before ingesting or using castor oil!!! It is also taken for general maintenance of good health because of the high concentration of those oh so good for you omegas. My interest in castor oil is purely tied to vanity. I have heard that if you apply castor oil topically to lashes and brows, they will grow longer and thicker - amazing right? I have also read that its super great as a hair mask - although I can imagine it is a rinse and repeat kinda situation to get it out. Anyway I am trying it! So every night for the next 4 weeks I will apply castor oil to my brows and lashes. I will report back, post pictures and updates. Follow me on Facebook and Instagram for the weekly progress! Can you imagine if this works? I am so stoked to find out! - jody -
